Tennis in the United States is played on three kinds of places: public park courts run by a city or county, member clubs and country clubs with their own pros and leagues, and commercial tennis centers that sell court time by the hour. Public courts are usually free and first come, first served, with a posted limit (often 60-90 minutes when others are waiting); busier cities run online reservation systems with a small fee and a permit for the season. Indoor courts are rented by the hour and booked days ahead in winter. Most facilities are hard courts; clay is common in the Southeast and at private clubs, and grass is rare. Lights extend play into the evening at many parks, sometimes with a coin or app-operated switch.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 9 am–9 pm. Traffic in Philadelphia peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Court 16 has become one of my favorite places to play tennis! The group classes are well structured; we’re not just hitting balls but working on specific shots and actually applying them in game like scenarios. The coaches do a great job explaining why things work. (Shout out Coach Richard, Maddie, Daniela and Coach Syid!) I love the energy; it’s focused but never feels heavy or overwhelming. It is genuinely a fun experience.πŸ”₯ You leave feeling sad it’s over but excited to come back! If you’re looking for a place to improve and enjoy the process, this is it.:)

My friends and I had so much fun at Court 16 as an activity for my bachelorette weekend!🩡 We had a mix of total beginner and experienced tennis players in my party and we all were able to have so much fun playing together on the court.
